Class of 2011:Krystal

Here is another session from my photography weekend with Shefy. Remember, the girl who made me step out of my comfort zone, the girl who would not allow me to set that little notch at the top of my camera to AV, the girl who was so willing to share, and the girl who helped me take that next step as a photographer? Yes, that girl....she is awesome.

The minute Shefy and I arrived at our session, I had no doubt it would be a blast. The location was phenomenal, Shefy was her giddy excited self, and the weather was perfect....and then we met Krystal and her mom. They were so much fun and so excited to be there.

Krystal reminded me of the days in high school when you woke up before sunrise to be at school for the club you were so proud to be in, went through an entire day of classes and passing time only to stay after for practice. From practice you went home to eat, study, and attempt to get a nap in before doing it all over again the next day. She also reminded me of the excitement that comes with preparing to go off to college, choosing a major, and all of the memories she will soon create.

A Chiefs Lovin' Family Session

My good friend Shefy and I had a weekend filled with photography discussions, practicing manual, food, and wine. As we wrapped up the weekend, she was kind enough to let me come along to two sessions with her. Under one condition....I shoot in manual. Only Manual. I whined like a little baby, but in the end, it was totally worth it.

Meet Chris, Kimberly, Mason, and Carter. They were such a sweet family and I am so appreciative they were willing to let me come along to their session!

Scout and Watson

I never thought I was a dog person until Adam and I purchased two of our own. I love them. Seriously LOVE them. I love hanging out with them. I love coming home to them. I love taking them on trips. I love taking pictures of them. And I love my bathroom that is covered in pictures of them, despite the worried looks I get when I have company over.
I also love other dog people. So when my friend Rachel asked me to come over and take pictures of her two pups for halloween I was SO excited! This meant there are others out there. Others who are as crazy about their dogs as I am about mine. Rachel and her husband Devin are the proud parents of two ADORABLE pooches.

First, meet Scout and all of his handsomeness!

Eight Years ♥

October 11, 2002
We were Juniors in High school when Adam "asked me out" at the Hazelwood West Homecoming Bonfire during the firework display.

Life since the Bonfire
High School Dances. Youth Group. Cheerleading. Football. High School Graduation. Concerts. College Applications. Rolla. Fraternity and Sorority Functions. Ski Trips. Annual Holzer Family Vacation to the Ozarks. Holidays at Home. Summer breaks. Study breaks. Smallville. Scrabble. 2 Puppies. The title of Aunt and Uncle. An Engagement. College Graduation (at least for one of us). Jobs. Wedding plans. A dream Wedding. Honeymoon. The first placed we called home together.....quickly followed by the second place we called home together. Late night ice cream runs. Finding a church. Buying our FIRST house, but our third home. Our first wedding anniversary. The start of a career in Photography. And all of the moments in between.

Adam TOTALLY thought getting married meant only having to remember ONE date, June 13th, our new anniversary. Boy was he wrong. Each year on October 11th I will continue to remind him of the years we have spent together. And each year he will repeat that number back in a fraction, years together divided by years alive "That's almost 1/3 of my life." And every year, on October 11th he will look at me and utter the same joke, complete with the appropriate number of years, "Eiiiigght yeeeaaaarrsss of my liiiiiife....I meeeaaan...EIGHT YEARS of my LIFE!" He thinks he is hilarious. And so do I.

To my best friend. Thank you for the love and support you have given me all of these years! I LOVE YOU BABE! Here's to eight years together and MANY MORE!

Laurie and Josiah: Rock Your Knot

She is mature and well mannered. He thinks farts are funny. He is loud. She is quiet. He spends his free time hunting. She spends her free time studying for her Masters. He grew up with all brothers. She grew up with all sisters. Laurie and Josiah are proof, opposites attract. They could not be more different, or more in love.
Laurie and Joe have been married a little over a year, but they have been together for nearly nine. The two of them, Adam, and myself were inseparable in high school. We did everything together. From ball games, to road trips, to movie nights, to youth group, if you saw one of us...there was no doubt, the other 3 were not far behind. Since high school we have remained close friends. We try our best to hang out whenever hunting, photography, masters programs, and work will allow. My vision of the four of us post retirement includes Adam and Josiah fishing out on a bass boat day after day, while Laurie and I lay out, shop, and drink wine at our lake house.

Joe and Laurie were kind enough to trust me with my first ROCK YOUR KNOT session!!! Here is their sneak peek! AND for the first time, I am attaching a slideshow of the session at the end of this blog!

Rock Your Knot!

What is Rock your Knot all about?

A Rock your Knot Session takes place after the wedding and allows the Bride and Groom to take fun pictures in a more relaxed atmosphere. No guests to worry about, no bridal party to tend to, no coordinators to check in with. This session is just for the Mr. and Mrs.
Also known as Newlywed sessions, these are a great excuse to get back into your dress and get some unique shots that may have been missed on the wedding day, or to incorporate some sort of theme that shows who you are as a couple. Whatever you decide to do with it, Relax and Flirt it up because
Marriage is fun. And you should ROCK it!

What better way to show what I mean than with a picture...or 2? Here is a preview of a Rock your Knot session in action.
